In 2001, Rees Jones crafted Old Chatham Golf Club just outside Raleigh, designing a layout that winds through gentle terrain framed by dense stands of North Carolina pines and expansive waste areas. The routing demands precision off the tee with narrow driving corridors, while small, firm greens are protected by deep bunkers and punishing collection areas. Jones returned in 2022 to refine the course, enhancing fairways, reducing bunker sizes, and reimagining the par-3 16th to play over a hazard with a strategic bailout area. For golfers visiting the Raleigh region, Old Chatham remains an unforgettable test.
