Architects Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw faced the challenge of integrating two contrasting landscapes at Friar’s Head: breathtaking sand dunes overlooking Long Island Sound and ordinary potato fields to the south. The goal was to harmonize these elements seamlessly, avoiding a disjointed layout. By alternating the routing between the dunes and fields and skillfully reshaping the terrain into gentle links-like land, these architects achieved a remarkable blend. The topography, layout, challenging greens, and energetic caddies combine to make an exceptional and unforgettable experience.
