Course Details

For years, Lookout Mountain Club was seen by architecture enthusiasts and historians as one of the most promising unfinished courses in the country. Designed by Seth Raynor in 1925 on dramatic, sloping terrain near the northeastern edge of Lookout Mountain just outside Chattanooga, the layout included classic Raynor and Macdonald template holes—though most players wouldn't have recognized them. Raynor passed away in 1926 before construction started, so the course was never completed to his specifications. Recently, architects Tyler Rae and Kyle Franz, along with designer Benjamin Warren, took on the challenge of bringing Raynor’s vision to life. Using his original course map as a guide, they reintroduced the template holes at a scale that matches the site’s vast, panoramic setting. Every green was excavated and rebuilt, and the bunkers were either repositioned to their intended locations or reconstructed based on the original plans.
