Course Details

Between 2013 and 2015, Sawgrass Country Club underwent an extensive Master Golf Renovation, improving key course elements including fairways, tees, bunkers, bridges, drainage systems, cart paths, bulkheads, and irrigation. The project was spearheaded by golf course architect Robert Walker, who trained under Ed Seay, the club’s original designer. The goal was to preserve the club’s tradition while enhancing the overall playing experience. The East-West course, a former host of The Players Championship, continues to stand out as one of Northeast Florida’s top golf destinations. The East Course, which formed the front nine during the tournament era, is known for its striking natural setting, highlighted by the challenging par-5 4th hole that first plays toward the ocean before reversing direction with a demanding drive. Meanwhile, the West Course offers a varied layout that begins by moving away from the clubhouse and gradually loops back. Its defining moment comes at the signature hole—a lengthy par-3 over water that tests both accuracy and composure. The South Course is designed with broader fairways, providing golfers with more space and forgiveness off the tee. One of the most memorable holes is the par-5 6th, where a striking peninsula green creates an exciting challenge. This hole invites players to weigh the risk of going for the green in two against the potential reward of a well-executed shot.
