Course Details

Since the 1964 U.S. Open, Congressional's Blue Course epitomized classic American parkland golf. Initially crafted by Robert Trent Jones, it underwent various transformations by son Rees Jones for subsequent Opens. Over time, surrounding trees flourished, casting shadowy wood corridors. In 2020, faced with drainage issues and declining conditions, the membership sought a major overhaul. Architect Andrew Green led the transformation, envisioning a design akin to Emmet's original concept. Dense forests were cleared, replaced by expansive fairways weaving through fescue-filled meadows, adorned with formidable bunkers and distinctive greens. The remodel, featuring a new drop-shot par-3 10th hole, earned the course accolades, including our 2021 Best Transformation award and a notable climb in the 100 Greatest ranking. With its grand majestic clubhouse, and the course potentially lined up for 10 more major tour events over the next few decades, see this newly restored course layout and get a peak inside this beautiful gem clubhouse with the history of some of the presidential founders.
