This redesign was crafted by A. W. Tillinghast, one of the most renowned golf course architects in history. For over two decades, the course functioned as a public facility. In February 1956, due to financial losses and the need for clubhouse renovations, the City entered into a 99-year lease, transferring most of the property back to the Club. By May 1956, the Tallahassee Country Club reassigned this lease to the newly established Capital City Country Club, which included many former members of the original Tallahassee Country Club.
