Course Details
While many golf courses in Vermont are characterized by tight, tree-lined fairways winding through mountainous landscapes, Ekwanok Country Club offers a contrasting experience set in a broad, gently rolling valley at the foot of Mt. Equinox. Of particular note is the par 5 seventh hole, renowned for its requirement of a blind second shot over a hill, a feature that has never been reached in two strokes and stands as one of Vermont's most iconic golfing challenges. Originally designed by Walter J. Travis and John Duncan Dunn in 1899, with subsequent modifications by Geoffrey Cornish in the 1960s and Bruce Hepner in more recent times, Ekwanok also boasts the distinction of being the sole golf club in the state to support a caddie program. This blend of tradition and serene surroundings, characterized by white birches and panoramic forest vistas, fosters an atmosphere where stress seems to evaporate upon setting foot on the property. Situated amidst the Green Mountains, players are treated to breathtaking views of Manchester's iconic white church steeple, with the added allure of vibrant fall foliage enhancing the experience later in the season, ensuring an unforgettable round for any golfer fortunate enough to play this hidden gem.
