The original 18-hole layout of Farmington was designed by legendary designer Fred Findlay in 1929. Historical records attest that Findlay's portfolio boasted more golf courses in Virginia than any other individual. Promptly following the course's inauguration, Farmington's members sought to showcase and endorse their new facility. The genesis of the Kenridge Invitational stemmed from Farmington's founding member, Hollis Rinehart, who also served on the club's inaugural Board of Directors. A stroll down the seventh fairway still offers a glimpse of Mr. Rinehart's former residence, nestled amidst the trees to the southeast.
