Course Details
In 1979, George Fazio and his nephew Tom faced criticism from Donald Ross enthusiasts after replacing a classic Ross par-4 on Oak Hill East with two new holes, including the bowl-shaped par-3 sixth, which would later see four aces in two hours during the 1989 U.S. Open. They also added a pond to a par 3 and moved the green on the par-4 18th. Golf architect Andrew Green was hired to restore the course to Ross’s original design. Green’s renovations included reintroducing Ross’s original par-4 hole, formerly the fifth and now the sixth, following a major tree removal project. This work, completed in May 2020 after the 2019 Senior PGA Championship, refreshed the course in time for the 2023 PGA Championship, won by Brooks Koepka.
