Course Details

Woodmont Country Club’s original 18-hole layout in Rockville, Maryland—known as the North Course—carries a distinguished legacy. Designed by course architect Alfred Tull with contributions from club member Leopold Freudberg and Greens Superintendent Rudy Will, the course officially opened on July 26, 1950. In 1999, renowned architect Arthur Hills led a comprehensive renovation, which included the complete replacement of all 18 greens. Between 2018 and 2020, architect Joel Weiman directed a significant redesign of the 18th hole and a full reconstruction of the course’s bunkers. The North Course has served as the site of many prestigious tournaments, notably hosting U.S. Open Final Qualifying since 1987 and, on multiple occasions, U.S. Women’s Open Final Qualifying. The U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship marks the North Course’s first official USGA championship.

The uniqueness of the Stake Club resides not in a singular golf course or a long and storied history. Instead, it lives within a core group of one hundred individuals who came together to develop the best national membership in golf. Today, the Stake Club is an organization comprised of over 500 members from the finest national private golf clubs. The club’s motto, ‘A Generous Game’ epitomizes the work that members do to contribute to the community and the causes they support. As a result, meaningful relationships are forged, ideas are exchanged, and the community and charitable work of the club is furthered. The Stake Club Charitable Foundation uses auction proceeds to provide funding for registered 501(c)3 charities selected by the donor of each hosted round. By providing Stake Club members the option to directly give to the charity of their choice, the Stake Club Charitable Foundation provides a platform to maximize the Club’s charitable reach.
