In 1928, Alister MacKenzie crafted the layout for Northwood Golf Club, a nine-hole course set on seventy acres of forested terrain, located across the Russian River from the renowned Bohemian Club Grove. Golf.com ranks it as the 30th best nine-hole course globally and the 8th best public course in California. Joe Passov of Golf Magazine included Northwood in his top five MacKenzie-designed courses worldwide.
