Course Details
Midland Hills long harbored suspicions that their golf course bore the hallmark design of Seth Raynor from the early 1920s, yet lacking documentation, they remained uncertain about its original layout. While some of Raynor's signature holes could be discerned, the overall architectural grandeur had diminished with time. However, a pivotal moment occurred in 2018 when superintendent Mike Manthey stumbled upon a hidden treasure: a 1921 irrigation map concealed above the ceiling in his office. This detailed drawing unveiled Raynor's visionary blueprint for the course, delineating individual holes and bunkers—a revelation that designer Jim Urbina seized upon to meticulously restore and enhance classic templates such as the Biarritz, Road, and Eden. These enhancements catalyzed Midland Hills' ascent to its inaugural inclusion in the esteemed Best in State rankings.
