Situated to the west of Houston, directly across Highway 71 from last year’s Best New Private Course winner, The Covey at Big Easy Ranch, Darmor presents a fascinating blend of elements that might seem incompatible yet work harmoniously together. This course features a rugged piece of south-central Texas terrain alongside a design inspired by the classic template holes of Seth Raynor, including the Alps, Long, and Biarritz. Adding to its uniqueness is the involvement of a former PGA Tour player as one of the architects. Darmor successfully combines ample fairway width with creative interpretations of non-Raynor holes, such as the “Foxy” par-4 from Royal Dornoch and the par-3 “Dell” from Lahinch. The ever-present wind and firm soil conditions ensure that the course offers a different challenge with each round.
