Course Details
Donald Ross played a crucial role in crafting the Allegheny Country Club's course, overseeing its development from inception through subsequent expansions. Initially collaborating with Herbert Fowler and C.H. Alison, Ross eventually assumed full responsibility for the project, completing their vision. During World War II, the back nine closed due to member enlistment, only to be reopened post-war under Ross's guidance, marking his final significant design contribution. Today, Ross's influence remains prominent in the course's layout, with Gil Hanse aiding its upkeep. Besides its golfing heritage, Allegheny boasts unique features like a candy jar tradition near the sixth tee and a convenient rope tow assisting golfers to the fourth tee.
