Course Details
The development of the golf course commenced in August 1914 under the guidance of Alexander H. Findlay, known as the "Father of American Golf," and was completed for play on June 1, 1915. While many of the original holes or portions of them remain in play, some, like the 600-yard par-6 12th hole featuring an island green, and "Gibraltar," a 165-yard par-3 with a green perched atop a steep cliff, have been lost over time. The course has undergone numerous modifications by renowned architects, including Donald Ross, A.W. Tillinghast, Willie Park Jr., Emil Loeffler & John McGlynn, Robert Trent Jones, Arthur Hills, Craig Schreiner, Tripp Davis, and Keith Foster, shaping the layout as it stands today.
