Course Details

Born from the hardships of the Great Depression, Southern Hills stands as Perry Maxwell's crowning achievement, crafted by scores of laborers seeking daily wages. Characterized by strategic tee shots and undulating greens with Maxwell's trademark contours, the course challenges golfers at every turn. Simple yet formidable bunkers protect many of the greens. In 2018, architect Gil Hanse undertook extensive renovations, restoring Maxwell's original rugged bunkering and reviving the green perimeters that had eroded over time. This meticulous effort aimed to preserve the course's historic character while enhancing its playability for generations to come.
