Course Details
In 1955, Al Ostheimer's vision spurred sixty individuals to gather in John Young’s barn near Route 30, aiming to dedicate 168 acres for community sports. Purchased from Wycoff Smith, the land, featuring a farmhouse and barn, later transformed into clubhouses. This assembly birthed an elected Board of Governors in May 1955. The club derived its name from nearby "Whitford Village," reflecting its Welsh namesake. Initially centered on fox hunting, golf emerged as the primary sport later, with nine holes established in 1956 and the full course by 1957 by William and David Gordon. Whitford Country Club has played host to many of the area’s top championships and regional qualifiers of the USGA, PGA of America, Pennsylvania Golf Association and Golf Association of Philadelphia.
