Course Details

Bayonne was constructed atop a former sanitary landfill, buried under 7 million cubic yards of fill material, much of it dredged from the harbor to deepen it for supertankers. The layers of deposits rose as high as 10 stories, later sculpted by developer and designer Eric Bergstol into towering artificial sand dunes. The course pays homage to traditional Irish links, featuring no trees, cart paths, or flat lies. Its fairways wind through narrow valleys, bordered by steep slopes covered in tall, flowing fescue. The bunkers are deep and intimidating, while several greens perch above the harbor. Every putting surface is riddled with unpredictable undulations, humps, and contours.
