Course Details

Forse Golf Design principals Ron Forse and Jim Nagle specialize in classic-course remodeling and restoration. Forse, a West Virginia graduate who founded the firm in 1989 after a decade in landscape design, was first joined by Bruce Hepner; Nagle—also a WVU alum—succeeded Hepner in 1998. Their approach pairs Forse’s deep study of Ross, Tillinghast, and Flynn green forms with Nagle’s technical refinement for modern play. A signature project is The Old Course at Bedford Springs (PA), where in 2006–07 they rebuilt nearly every hole, preserving Ross’s uphill 225-yard par-3 “Volcano” 4th and reviving Tillinghast’s 1916 pitch-shot par-3 “Tiny Tim.” They added thoughtful new holes within existing corridors—among them the Redan-influenced par-3 17th (“Ronnie”) and the short, strategic S-shaped 18th (“Home”)—and even echoed St. Andrews’ Hell Bunker on the par-5 13th. The result is a cohesive, historically grounded course that plays like a timeless original.
