Spring Ford began as a nine-hole routing by J. Franklin Meehan before William Gordon reshaped it into the 18 holes played today. In the late 1990s, the club enlisted Gil Hanse to audit the layout and develop a master plan to refresh and refine the design. Many of his recommendations have since been realized, with significant updates to greens and bunkers. The course now showcases classic Gordon greens—often strongly canted from back to front—ringed by Hanse’s assertive bunker complexes, keeping Spring Ford among the region’s sternest tests.
