Course Details

Unlike many Top 100 layouts that started as open meadows, added trees for decades, and are now cutting them back, Sahalee was born in the woods and has always embraced that identity. The course was hewn from Pacific Northwest cedar, spruce, fir, and pine, with tight corridors defined by towering trunks. So rather than stripping trees wholesale, Rees Jones and Steve Weisser approached the 2022 renovation with restraint. Building on Jones’s 1996 work—and mindful of the championship pedigree of the North/South nines that hosted the 1998 PGA Championship and the 2016 and 2024 KPMG Women’s PGA Championships—they selectively thinned growth to reveal the land’s contours, broadened fairways to create more angles, and removed isolated trees that blocked strategic lines. Every bunker was rebuilt, reshaped, and repositioned to better engage tee shots and hole locations. The result is a course that feels renewed while remaining unmistakably Sahalee: a precision test carved straight from the forest.
