Due Process Stable’s course was co-designed by Gene Bates—who previously worked with Gary Player and Jack Nicklaus—and Johnny Miller. Though the property is largely flat, it’s a stout test from the back, stretching to 7,138 yards from the Belmont tees, with the Derby (6,570) and Preakness (5,972) options set forward. A horse-racing theme threads the layout, and all eighteen holes play as distinct “signatures” with their own risk-reward character. Kentucky bluegrass and tall fescue frame the fairways and greens to preserve the Thoroughbred feel, while the waterfall, stream, and rock bridge at No. 8 add a touch of theater. The routing sticks in the memory—shot after shot—which is the hallmark of a great course.
