Course Details

Founded in 1924 as Lakewood Country Club, the club quickly earned a reputation for 18 standout holes that once tested greats like Sam Snead and Ben Hogan. Herbert Strong—former professional at Royal St. George’s in Kent who later devoted himself to course design—crafted the layout. In May 2000, the club adopted a name that better reflects St. Petersburg and is now commonly called simply “The Club.” Tucked between downtown and the beaches, the historic championship course eschews parallel fairways to encourage quick play and a quiet, solitary feel, while shifting breezes off the Gulf and Tampa Bay keep golfers on their toes.
