Course Details

Founded in 1956, Cherokee Town and Country Club operates two facilities twelve miles apart—a town club and a country club—while both golf courses sit just north of Sandy Springs near Dunwoody. David Gill delivered the first 18 holes in 1957, originally called Hillside and later the South course. Willard Byrd added nine holes north of the clubhouse in 1977 (the Pineside nine), and Joe Lee with Rocky Roquemore built another nine in 1986; those nines were joined to create the Riverside course beside the Chattahoochee River. Today’s North course (formerly Riverside) reflects Byrd’s and Lee/Roquemore’s work, refined by Tom Fazio’s 1998 revision that unified the routing. Frequently mentioned alongside Augusta National among America’s most exclusive clubs, Cherokee is accessible only through the good graces of a member.
